Supreme Court extends FPC authority over most electric utilities
The Supreme Court ruled 4 to 2 that the Federal Power Commission can regulate utilities in multistate power pools even if a utility has no customers in those states. The decision affects Florida Power & Light and other interconnecting systems, requiring FPC accounting, wholesale rate rules, and possible interconnection orders. Justice Douglas and Chief Justice Burger dissented.
