Heavy snowfall and freezing rain postponed the harness season opening at Green Mountain Race Track. The track will open tomorrow at 2 p.m. with Saturday’s card, marking the earliest start in the track’s 12 year history despite yesterday’s snowbound workouts.
The Labor Department reports about 100000 jobs lost in the week Dec 9-15 due to actual and threatened gasoline shortages. Hundreds of thousands more expected as airlines and auto sectors cut staff.
