West Mountain wildlife group eyed by Shaftsbury residents
Landowners on West Mountain Shaftsbury discuss forming an informal wildlife preservation group led by Marjorie and Leonard Black. The plan calls for no dues or formal structure, cooperation with county forester and extension services, and action limited to learning how to protect habitat without spending money. Black cites parcel consolidation and ecological disruption as reasons to act, inviting interested residents to Echo Farm to join a meeting. The Blacks note their own properties have long served as wildlife preserves.
