Brando urged to give cash instead of land to Indians
Hank Adams, director of the Survival of American Indians Association, said Marlon Brando should supply $318,000 in cash rather than a 40 acre California land gift valued at $200,000 to $250,000, noting the mortgage on the land exceeds its appraised value. Adams suggested funding an independent Nisqually River Indian school instead. He praised Brando's sincerity and denied any deceit or fraud.
