Freeman visits Vermont for rural water bill kickoff
Agriculture Secretary Orville Freeman attended a Burlington ceremony marking the first federal grant under Senator George Aiken’s rural water bill. The Lake Champlain project will cost 2.83 million dollars, with 2.1 million provided by the federal government to pipe water to Addison, Bridport, and Shoreham. Freeman said the bill will bring water relief to over 600,000 people in about 800 rural communities nationwide. He called it highly significant and likely to spur rural water programs across the country.
