Liberty Union wins one victory seeks another on tax ballot

Liberty Union officials filed briefs with the Vermont Supreme Court asking Barre Town to place an advisory tax question on the next Town Meeting Day ballot. The party seeks support for a plan to rewrite state tax laws while Barre Town selectmen refuse the question. Senior Court backed the town, ruling the non binding question not relevant to town business. The party proposes eliminating personal income taxes under $10,000 and abolishing sales and splinter taxes, doubling corporate and inheritance taxes. Also noted are local activities and a 50 50 drawing winner and a therapy swim cancellation at Putnam Memorial Hospital.
