POWs Detour To View Golden Gate Bridge On Homecoming
Twenty freed POWs returned to the United States from North Vietnam on a “freedom flight” landing at Travis Air Force Base after circling the Golden Gate Bridge. The group included two captains known as the POW twins Edward Mechenbier and Kevin McManus, plus Capt. Joseph Crecca who was ill with malaria. Dated February 24, 1974.
