Arlington Boy 18 Dies In Battenkill Crash
Richard James Pickering 18, a West Arlington resident and Arlington Memorial High School junior, died in a car crash on Vt. 313 when his Chevrolet toppled into the Battenkill River. He belonged to Explorer Scouts and St. Margaret Mary's Church, was active in soccer and basketball, and worked at Jerry's Gulf Station. Funeral arrangements are set with calling hours and services at St. Margaret Mary's Church.

The Travel Information Council announced that southern Vermont is prepared for the 1968 anti billboard law to begin April 1. About 250 privately owned roadside signs in Highway District 2 must be removed by June 1 and will be replaced with state owned directional signs.
