County Appeal Board Split on Green Mountain Park Value

Bennington County board split over Taconic Racing track value. One member William Burns opposed lowering assessed fair market value from 5.6 million to 4.4 million. The decision, signed Jan 22, will require Pownal to reimburse the track 23,880 as officials plan further appeals including the state commissioner and Supreme Court. The case discusses cost and income appraisal methods, noting 200 acres and depreciation factors and contrasting income-based values around 3.2 to 4.2 million with caution due to obsolescence and road access.
