About 400 residents attended a special town meeting and approved with overwhelming unanimity the extension of water and sewer lines to the Park Street Extension corner. The brief session lasted under two minutes with strong support.

Patman attacks Fed chief in House hearing

Rep. Wright Patman charged Federal Reserve Board Chairman William McChesney Martin with malfeasance and nonfeasance, saying the Fed has damaged the American economy. Patman, lead of the House Banking Committee, warned no FHA or VA rate increases until the Fed complies with housing legislation and mortgage fund requirements under 1966 law. He accused Martin of defying Congress, tying the debate to housing costs and urban decay, while urging action to aid the housing industry.

Developer Buys 9000 Acres In Southern Vermont

A New York City investor and land developer, Eugene L. Colman, through Colman Holding Corp and affiliates, has acquired about 9000 acres in Windham and Readsboro areas including Dover Whitingham Newfane Readsboro and Searsburg. Main parcels include 350 acre Hebard Farm and 750 acre Newfane tract with plans for feasibility studies such as a ski resort. a closing on 4400 acres in Readsboro Searsburg to Henry F. Harris is expected.

Man Held as Witness In Rensselaer Boy's Death

Thomas A. Leighton 54 of Albany was ordered held as a material witness in the death of 16 year old Albert Sitterly of Rensselaer. He appeared in Saratoga County Court and was remanded to county jail in lieu of 50 000 bail. Arraignment adjourned to Monday. Leighton last saw Sitterly alive and had stated the boy was dead and in a snowbank. The case stems from second degree manslaughter proceedings against John Doe.
