Recreation Director Loomis G. Dana announced that federal BOA cuts severely reduce Vermont funding, likely forcing Bennington to drop the Willow Park project. He advises pursuing a $68,440 Memorial Park plan for tennis and handball courts, as central location and lower power needs improve odds. The subpoena seeks Nixon testimony relevant to the prosecution of three former White House aides.
Bellows Falls police chief Frederick Gray Sr resigns after his son Frederick Gray Jr and officer Gary Quinn plead guilty to aiding in a burglary of Rockingham Auto Store last October. Gray Jr faces presentence investigation after pleading guilty to aiding a felony and possession of stolen property. Quinn pleaded guilty to aiding a felony and one count of possession of stolen property. the second count was dropped. Bail set, and others involved face related charges.
