Spectacular Fire Destroys JUNKYARD Building in Bennington
A three story frame building on Beech Street burned last night leaving only rubble. The late owner Joseph Schocket’s structure was engulfed as nine fire units fought the blaze. No injuries occurred from the fire though a spectator, Beatrice Eggsware, was hurt in a back vehicle accident. Fire crews evacuated the Lanfair kennel and feared damage to a nearby Sinclair gas station. The blaze cut power to parts of town and darkened the Vermont Steak House before 3 30 a.m. Page 22 Col 1.
