Optimistic Goldberg backs UN role to end Vietnam war

Village trustees at a special budget meeting approved a 3.5 percent across the board pay hike for Bennington Village employees in 1966 and kept the retirement age at 68 with an optional 65. Dr. Blake, a prominent civil rights figure and former Princeton football player, was elected Friday as general secretary of the World Council of Churches, succeeding Dr. Willem Visser't Hooft.
