Dorset Eyes Flood Control Project for Mad Tom Rivers
Dorset town officials and state federal soil and water experts discussed a potential flood control dam plan for the Mad Tom and Little Mad Tom rivers. Feasibility was noted from sketches by the Soil Conservation Service, with a follow up site visit planned for April to study run off and land contours. Federal aid may support the project depending on plan details and river damage. The rivers feed into the Battenkill and caused major damage in 1947 and earlier in 1910, delaying development along U S 7 in Dorset and damaging roads in Manchester.
