Snowbound Rescue Calls Shift Manchester Mercy Route
The Manchester Rescue Squad was summoned at 1 10 a m to transfer a non accident case to Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington. Road conditions kept them away until just before 10 a m. Snow blocked Manchester as a pain killer was delivered by Claude Lefty Casey to an Elm Street residence where a man lay on his kitchen floor. Casey was called by Center Hill Pharmacy keeper Jesse Torregrossa acting on a Dr Elizabeth Byrnes prescription from Dorset.

Suspect Arrested in Death Of Hudson Girl
The battered body of Jolane Marie Karic, 17, of Hudson, was found in a snowbank along Blue Hill Road near Route 31. State Police reported a suspect, Michael Nero, has been arrested as the investigation continues. the coroner cited a fractured skull as the cause of death and police noted the attack likely occurred elsewhere before the body was dumped.
