Vermont Official Calls Ford Budget an Arrow in the Back
Vermont Human Services Secretary Thomas C. Davis denounced President Ford's 1976 budget as another arrow in the back, cutting federal social service matching funds from 75 to 60 percent and eventually to 50 percent. He noted the state relies on about 5.5 million dollars in federal matching funds, which support roughly 7 million dollars in social service programs, and said officials will brief Chicago regulators on the new rules. Davis warned the change could derail planned budget cuts by Governor Salmon’s administration and Sen. Boylan’s proposals.
