Finley to Meet Kansas City Officials Over Stadium Lease
Kansas City Athletics owner Charles O. Finley will meet city officials Thursday amid a deadlock over a stadium lease. The American League had ordered a lease by early February to avoid expulsion after Finley’s bid to move the club to Louisville was rejected. City Manager Sharpe said Finley did not indicate new proposals, as a four year pact remains central to stabilizing the franchise while Finley warned he could face bankruptcy over a lease exceeding two years.

Canadians on Top in Olympic Hockey
The fast Canadian squad leads the Olympic standings after crushing the United States 8 6 to seize control of the round robin. Canada trailed 3 1 at one point but surged with six second period goals led by Brian Conacher who scored twice.
