Senators Aid Holdup Victim in Washington Shooting
Treasury agent trainee Thomas Donleavy was shot in the calf during a holdup on Massachusetts Avenue near the Sulgrave Club. Senators Hugh Scott Mark Hatfield and Howard Baker Rep Tim Lee Carter and Herbert G Klein rushed to his aid as the gunman fled. Donleavy, 29 a former Philadelphia policeman, was treated at George Washington University Hospital and released.

Finch to send desegregation teams south with open mind
Hew Secretary Robert H Finch announced next week three desegregation teams will travel to Mississippi North Carolina and South Carolina to urge districts to craft acceptable plans. He warned no special concessions while stressing openness and no prejudgment as more than 1.25 million dollars in federal funds are at stake. Senator Javits and other northern lawmakers urged strict enforcement of the desegregation law and threatened to protest if funds go to districts not desegregating.

Perini Wins Bid for I-89 Contract Work
Perini Construction Corp of Framingham Mass submitted the apparent low bid for the first of three state contracts on 1.5 miles of Interstate 89 from Brookfield to Berlin. The bid total was 3,305,578 to grade drain and build three bridges by June 1 1970.
