Vermonters to Run Whey Plant Under Tentative Deal

Vermont cheesemakers will assume operation of the whey plant by February 15 under a tentative Whey Pollution Abatement Authority deal. The state must invest another 1 million dollars to push the Georgia plant toward full capacity and secure federal approvals, a process that could take a year. Jamaica Land Swap Rift Over Greenway Property

Five year plan to erase Vermont college deficit

Vermont State College system unveils a five year plan to balance budgets and cut a current $1.1 million deficit at a rate of $125,000 per year. Gov. Former Veterans Home head Gen Giles dies at 57

Brig. Gen. Edward H. Giles aged 57 and longtime commandant of the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington was found dead at his Convent Avenue residence. Police say death appears natural. autopsy planned. He led the home from 1958 until his Jan. 24 resignation for health reasons.
