Sunderland bonds join state issue under Vermont plan
Sunderland voters approved a 200000 dollar school bond last year which may be bought by Vermont's Municipal Bond Bank as part of a statewide issue. The bank issued 45745000 dollars in tax exempt bonds to fund about 44 Vermont community issues totaling 41.23 million. Sunderland Board Chair Albert H. Lawrence said sale timing is uncertain but the bonds are in the block. Sunderland had funded construction with bank loans from Factory Point National Bank and National Shawmut Bank, repaid when bonds sell. The Vermont Bond Bank, created to pool small issues, prices bonds with yields from 3 to 4.5 percent and uses the state credit to redeem coupons and amortize debt.

Minnesota reactor rules in limbo as hearings wrap up
The AEC faces a mid January decision after hearings on the Vermont Yankee style Vernon project. Minnesota officials warn a court ruling could alter state radiation standards governing hospitals universities and research facilities. The HEW study finds the plant would have low environmental impact with nondetectable radiological levels in the Quabbin system and supports a strong surveillance plan including milk testing in the area.
