PSB Rejects CVPS Rate Hike in Vermont

The Vermont Public Service Board denied Central Vermont Public Service Corp. a 6 percent temporary rate increase. The three member panel found a 7 percent return already provided ample profit and said no urgent financial danger justified more. Environment Board Rejects Manchester Appeal Over Eastview Estates Plan

The Vermont Environmental Board denied Albert M. Rossi's subdivision for 42 acres on Barnumville Road, finding non conformance with Manchester's town plan and potential zoning issues. Highway Department stands firm on salt policy

MONTPELIER Vermont Highway Department will not change its winter bare roads policy despite conservationist protests over salt damage. Commissioner John T. Gray defended safety priorities, noting 18 test areas in nine districts test reduced salt use while warning motorists to drive cautiously.

Pentagon says Hanoi list omits many POWs in North Vietnam

Defense officials said Hanoi left at least 26 Americans off its latest list of prisoners in North Vietnam and that more omissions are possible. They warned the North Vietnamese may not publish a complete list to avoid endangering captured service members. The Pentagon lists 378 prisoners identified, with 412 missing in action in North Vietnam.
