DAR Notes on Nativity Scene Controversy at DC Pageant
At the Bennington DAR meeting defense chair Mrs. John Mollica reported a 1973 DC Court ruling faulting the Nativity scene at the Pageant of Peace for excessive entanglement with religion. She said the scene remains integral, leading to the creation of the American Christian Heritage Association with permits for this and last year. The gathering at Mrs. Carl Williams’ home also featured brief histories, acknowledgments of local Girl State participants, and a collection for Vermont Veterans Home gifts.
