Two Church Merger Faces Opposition

Critics argue the merger is unlikely to pass through Methodist annual conferences despite general conference support, fearing concessions on structure and naming. New U S Antarctic Station May Be World s Coldest Site
The United States plans Plateau Station atop a 13 000 foot ridge in Antarctica. The remote outpost will have no neighbors within 600 miles of the South Pole and could surpass Vostok Station s record cold of 127 below zero. Plateau may approach 130 degrees below zero, aided by its higher altitude. Spring arrives as autumn in the north, with resupply missions starting in October. American scientists will also work on the long 21 mile radio antenna season 1965 66.
