Sales Tax Pitch Made InVESTORS Letter to Legislators
The Bennington based group VESTORS pressed the House Ways and Means action on a 4 percent sales tax for education in a letter to Vermont legislators. It commends Rep. David Allen for presenting the measure and argues the tax would raise about $21 million, contending the property tax is regressive and that the sales tax should fund schools and communities equitably. The letter cites Gov Hoff and Sen Santarcangelo, defends purification of the school system, and is signed by VESTORS president Robert J. Gilroy.
