A joint study by U S Forest Service plant pathologists Stago and Scarpf finds de-icing salt harming Tahoe Basin trees. Field plots near highways show damage in Jeffrey pine, sugar pine, lodgepole pine, white fir, and incense cedar, with greenhouse tests confirming salt injury.
