Santa letter help from North Pole Alaska crew
At Eielson Air Force Base volunteers from Detachment 2 of the 11th Weather Squadron answer Santa mail each December. Since 1960 they have sent thousands of letters postmarked North Pole, with Maj. Bill Murphy noting they have handled over 160,000 letters in 20 years and about 7,000 last year. Parents send letters from children, with a return envelope stamped for speedy delivery, and the crew sometimes writes letters when needed.
