Onion prices tumble as storage crops flood markets
The New York area and New England retail markets offer onions at 10 to 12 cents a pound, similar to potatoes, despite onion growers in Orange County facing large inventories. USDA officials say supply is driving prices down, while growers blame store markups and low consumer demand. Grower and store quotes show widespread surplus and potential April imports to follow.

Women read emotions better, study finds in Conn
University of Connecticut researchers led by Dr. Ross Buck along with colleagues Dr. Robert E. Miller and Dr. William F. Caul tested 64 college students at Pittsburgh. They found women were more accurate as senders of emotion to facial expressions, but female observers were not more reliable than males. Internalizers, often men, showed stronger internal physiological responses.
