HUD to review plight of Memorial Park YMCA pool
HUD officials will examine the almost finished YMCA indoor pool complex in Memorial Park after funding ran out. Selectman J C Jerome said Neil Houston informed him a HUD representative would assess the entire situation, with a Dec 22 citizens committee meeting planned. The pool, started by the YMCA of Southwestern Vermont, stalled in October 1970 after spending $373,000 of the $770,435 total cost. The town could buy the 80 percent complete structure for about $200,000 or buy and finish it for roughly $320,000.

Cuba claims capture of Miami based pirate ship
