Santa Claus briefed on environmental shifts and trees
County Agent's Report addresses changes over the year affecting Santa's trip. It critiques pollution fears, tree cutting, and energy use, warning of reduced real Christmas trees and rising regulation, while urging simple joys and a return to steady traditions.
Governor's Christmas tree is prize winning balsam
A seven foot premium grade balsam fir was given to Gov. Deane C. Davis at the Vermont statehouse by the New Hampshire Vermont Christmas Tree Association. Grown by Galen Hutchison of Underhill, the tree topped the Vermont New Hampshire area contest and will grace the governor's home. Hutchison also presented a second tree for the governor's office. The piece notes Hutchison's awards and role with the association and places the Vermont competition in a national pattern for White House trees.
