Watch Out For Pinkeye Among Cattle This Summer
Burlington report cites Dr. James Wadsworth of AVM Extension on pinkeye in young light or white faced cattle during summer and fall. The disease stems from a bacterium and sunlight, spreading via contact dust tail switches and face flies. Early signs are tearing, then eye inflammation. persistent cases can rupture the eyeball causing blindness. Separate infected animals, pursue daily treatment, and implement fly control and vaccines though effectiveness varies. Recovery is common with treatment.
