Cora B Whitney School presents a three act Christmas program at Bennington Elementary School tonight at 7 in the all purpose room. The program features a nativity and carols with students and staff, including named participants across acting, choir, and instrumental roles.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars and auxiliaries from New Hampshire hosted a Christmas party at the Veterans Hospital in White River Junction on December 7. Nearly 30 volunteers visited bedsides, gave each patient a gift and a canteen book, and plans were announced to make the event annual. Charles A. Shaw and Iris Lawler attended, with organizing help from Carlo DeVincentis and Mrs. DeVincentis of West Lebanon.

Burlington reports Vermont ETV will air Cracker Barrel on December 16 at 8 p.m. featuring Jericho resident Professor Blair Williams discussing Wilson Bentley the Snowflake man. Also covered are Lucky Shamrock 4-H efforts to create a museum, plus TV licensing debate and inservice programming highlights.
The UPI five day forecast notes near normal temperatures in New England Tuesday through Saturday, with Maine warmer than average. Day highs mostly 30s in the north and 30s to 40 in the south, nights 10 to 20 north and 20s south, little day to day change. Precipitation totals over half an inch, snow in the north, snow or rain south late Thursday into Friday.
In Pittsford Bishop Robert F. Joyce led a Christmas Folk Mass at the Cav erly Child Health Center two room schoolhouse. The event included guitar by Rick Conway and guest attendance from Windsor Rutland and Proctor. Proceeds support a 1970 fundraising drive to raise 1.4 million for new facilities near Rutland Hospital.
Miss Deborah Hoth of Arlington and Robert J. Gutbier of Manchester announce their engagement. Hoth is a 1968 Arlington Memorial High School graduate and senior at St. Joseph College. Gutbier is a 1967 Burr & Burton graduate, studied at Castleton State, now at Florida Atlantic University. Wedding date not set.
Pfc Charles Gordon Hier of Bennington, age 23, assigned to the 61st Army Postal Unit at Giessen on December 1, 1969. A postal clerk, he previously served in Europe and earned the National Defense Service Medal after enlisting in August 1965. He completed basic training at Fort Dix in October 1965.
Miss Sharon Ann Baker daughter of Raymond and Mrs Lucille Baker of Bennington and Donald Francis Briggs Jr son of Mr and Mrs Briggs of Adams Mass married at First Baptist Church on Nov 21. Rev H Glenn Payne officiated the ceremony with mums decorating the altar. The bride wore angelmist taffeta and lace with an Empire bodice and chapel train. They reside on Safford Street. The bride is a 1968 Mt Anthony graduate and works at Sim Sen Industries. The groom is a 1967 McCann vocational grad and an apprentice toolmaker at General Electric in Pittsfield. Attendants included Mrs Charlotte Sherman and John Sherman. Guests from Adams North Adams Cheshire and surrounding area attended.
Miss Hollace Ann Stillson and Andrew Herbert Bowen were married November 28 at 10 30 a m in the Universalist Church at Hartland Four Corners. Rev Ellam Gault officiated. Attendants were Mrs Barbara Springer and Richard Stillson. The couple resides on West Mountain Road Shaftsbury. Both work for the Department of Social Welfare in Bennington.
