Fogbound pilot lands in N H after fuel runs low
Philip H. Welch of West Newton Massachusetts piloted a light Stinson four seater that ran nearly dry of fuel while flying from Laconia to Worcester. Dense fog over central New Hampshire forced him to rely on Northeast Airlines DC6 to guide and lead the landing at West Lebanon Airport. FAA officials reported the gauges read empty and Welch and an unnamed passenger were unharmed after the assisted approach from a Northeast flight amid radio and radar coordination with air traffic control.
