Lost Greek city Sybaris found on Italian shore
Archaeologists Giuseppe Foti of Italy and Froelich Rainey of the University of Pennsylvania announced the discovery of Sybaris beneath 15 to 18 feet of earth on the Crati plain near Thurii Italy. They credited a cesium magnetometer developed for space exploration with locating buried remains and said the site yields archaic tiles pottery and stone structures confirming the city once thrived as a luxury center before its 510 B C destruction.
