Hoosick Falls Soldier Returns From Vietnam Leave
Sgt. Arthur Gifford, son of Mr and Mrs Eber Gifford of Hoosick Falls, returned from a 12 month Vietnam tour last week and is on a 30 day leave with his parents before reporting to Fort Hood Texas. He has seven months remaining in his military service. The Hoosick Falls Lodge of Elks held a steak dinner dance with elves decor and Mulready's band. Luther Rasch of Center Street is a Memorial Hospital Albany patient after recent surgery.

Bear Study Seeks More Controls In Massachusetts
AMHERST Massachusetts studies to determine what controls are needed to protect bears are under way in western Massachusetts. Guided by wildlife biologist Joseph Larsen the project follows a drunk bear incident this fall and considers stricter rules including tagging and reporting of bear kills to wardens.
