Suburb embraces organic farming to curb youth delinquency
Natick Massachusetts runs a Community Farm Project by the Bureau of Youth and Human Resources now in its third season. The program targets low income at risk youths with prevention over rehabilitation and uses organic farming on about 10 acres to provide work and profits from produce, maple sugaring, honey, wool and eggs. Workers are paid via profit sharing as animals and beehives enhance the farm for the youngsters.

Funding Priorities Spark Vermont Education Debate
An aide to Rep. James Jeffords says federal aid for educating handicapped and learning-disabled students is insufficient. He notes 5 percent funding in 1978, rising to 40 percent by 1982, with Vermont's first-year share near $539,000 and potential state administrative deductions. Jeffords backs higher federal support. Vermont also wins an $880,000 federal grant to create CETO training for 100 low income workers, with jobs paying at least $3.52 hourly.
