Underground pipes replace rainfall irrigation breakthrough
Kansas manufacturer International Plastics, Inc. promotes a half inch microporous plastic pipe laid six inches underground to deliver water and nitrogen fertilizer directly to roots. The system claims water savings up to 90 percent, reduced weed germination, and easier installation. It has been tested with multiple institutions and in various crops, showing better and earlier yields than traditional ditch or overhead sprinklers.
