New ruling on spitter changes baseball rule
Houston UPI reports the majors replace the old spitter rule with a new statute that allows an umpire to call a spitter without proof of a wet substance. First offense in a game is a ball, second offense leads to ejection and league penalties. Trades also loom as Cubs, A’s, Astros, Tigers, and Phillies swap players.
