Congress Repeals State Fair Trade Laws
Washington Congress voted to strike down state fair trade laws that forced identical pricing on retailers. The bill passed by voice vote and moves to President Ford, who is expected to sign. FTC chairman Lewis Engman said the change closes a hole in antitrust laws harming buyers, with laws in 36 states covering products like stereo components, televisions, appliances, mattresses and toiletries.
