The Vermont state Claims Commission ruled on Roger Neil Jr. of Rutland seeking 350 after a game warden confiscated a legally shot buck in 1976. Instead of payment, the panel ordered a replacement deer from the Fish and Game Commission, which will supply a deer taken from an illegal hunter. The commissioner quipped for more, noting he could use a couple himself.

Private Stratton Earns Expert Infantryman Badge at Fort Wainwright
Pvt. Frank B. Stratton Jr. of Bennington, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stratton, East Road, Bennington, received the Expert Infantryman Badge at Fort Wainwright Alaska. The award follows a week of testing for volunteers who excel in PT and M 16 marksmanship, covering 17 infantry skills and a 12 mile road march. Stratton, with the 9th Infantry at the fort, joined the Army in November and is a 1976 Mt. Anthony Union High School graduate.

Free cancer screening clinics for women run in Bennington county
The Cervical Cancer Screening Program sponsors free clinics across Bennington county with nurses trained to perform Pap tests pelvic exams blood pressure and hemoccult tests and to teach breast self examination. Diane Graham Enlists in Air Force Delayed Enlistment
Diane Graham daughter of Mrs. Carol Post of Knapp Harrington Road Bennington has enlisted in the U S Air Force Delayed Enlistment Program and will enter the regular Air Force in February 1978. She graduates Mt Anthony Union High School in 1977 and will train as a refrigeration and air conditioning specialist with six weeks basic at Lackland AFB San Antonio Texas and advanced training with credits from the Community College of the Air Force.

Tech. Sgt Stemp Named Outstanding NCO of the Quarter
Tech. Sgt. Dennis Stemp of the 2nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron was chosen as Outstanding NCO of the Quarter for July August and September by The Rhein Main NCO and Airman of the Quarter Board.
