Eagle Square tax plan faces Dec 29 vote and possible move
Shaftsbury residents weigh a 1817 origin plant’s future as Eagle Square backs a 10 year tax package. A no vote risks the company relocating to Bennington Industrial Park with a projected tax impact near 133 480 dollars versus 128 000 in Shaftsbury. Town officials warn a pullout would cost jobs and tax revenue while promising a reappraisal plan and a spring start on construction if approved.

Air pollution talk warns of lead crystals and global plumes
Dr. Vincent Schaefer warned that both industrial and vehicle emissions raise air pollution across the Northeast and beyond. He noted 200,000 particles per cubic centimeter in cities, 1,100 more during his lecture, and described hexagonal lead-centered crystals found in remote canyons. He urged drastic changes in attitude, car restrictions, and engine power reductions to clean the air within months, hoping the younger generation will drive the change.
