Viet Nam guerillas strike Tam Ky compound

Communist guerrillas slipped into Tam Ky and attacked the American military compound and government headquarters with hand grenades and small arms. No American casualties were reported and Vietnamese losses were described as light. The attack was a swift thrust into the town housing the Vietnamese army's 2nd Infantry Division headquarters. A separate report from Pittsfield, Massachusetts noted two charred bodies found in a burned car in Balance Rock State Park, identified as Walter Fulton Jr. and a woman, with death by carbon monoxide inhalation and burns.

Rockefeller says NY sales tax not popular though needed

Governor Nelson Rockefeller acknowledged at a Albany news conference that many dislike the state sales tax but argued it funds state services. He warned new tax receipts data would not be ready until mid December and floated no firm education aid increase for 1966-67. Guided Missile Destroyer Ends Long Test with Mixed Crew
