Bennington Education Plan Expands Teacher Aide Program
A joint teacher training effort by Prospect and North Bennington, funded by a $20,000 federal grant, will run 12 week aide courses with six aides per group, rotating between schools. Trainees earn credits toward certification with no pay but gain valuable field experience, while Kellogg staff and Dr. Blake lead seminars and orientation plans aim to attract more candidates and keep graduates teaching in Vermont.

State and Defense officials differ on the significance of the change while Rogers asserts Vietnamization continues and withdrawals proceed as South Vietnamese forces take more combat responsibility.

Scribner Plans Education Programs for Vermont Poor
Vermont Education Commissioner Dr. Harvey Scribner outlined two federally funded efforts to expand higher education access for the poor. A teachers corps, sponsored by the University of Vermont and the Education Department, would enable teachers with bachelor degrees to work while pursuing a master's degree. COP program sites include Barre Montpelier and Burlington Winooski areas to aid potential students who lack funds to attend college, possibly taking six to seven years to complete a degree while working as a teacher's aide.
