Local People's Party grows as activists map 1976 plan
Washington reports that about 300 party workers gather in St. Louis to exchange information, map an electoral strategy for 1976, and nominate provisional presidential and vice presidential candidates. The movement centers on bottom up organizing and a decentralized socialism, with past efforts in Michigan California and Illinois. Prominent figures consider involvement but no one commits to run.
