Case of Bishop Pike Seen Manifestation Of Tension of Change
The report covers Episcopal Bishop James A. Pike of San Francisco facing possible heresy charges from Arizona clergymen, signaling tensions as churches confront modernization. It notes no signatures yet, the church court process, and divisions among bishops over Pike’s views including his stance on the Trinity and the Virgin Birth, with ties to broader debates echoed from Formosa and England.

Selma Paper Defends Priest's Action
The Selma Times-Journal editor supports not using St Pauls Episcopal Church for memorial services for slain theology student Jonathan Daniels. Roswell Falkenberry says the church should not host the service to avoid racial tensions. A substitute service is set for Friday at Brown Chapel in Selma with Episcopal Bishop Charles Hall to attend. Daniels, a Keene New Hampshire native, worked on voter registration and was killed in Hayneville, Alabama.

Ecumenical Service Marks Pines Cathedral Anniversary
In Rindge New Hampshire an ecumenical service drew more than 2000 worshippers to mark the Cathedral of the Pines twentieth anniversary. Eighteen denominations were represented among 31 clergy at the outdoor altar conceived as a national memorial to American war dead. The sermon by Archbishop Iakovos urged ending religious divides and placing loyalty to God first. Notables from Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish communities attended, with leaders from Boston and New England churches and organizations represented. The Cathedral was founded in 1945 by Dr and Mrs Douglas Sloane of Rindge in memory of their son Lt Sanderson Sloane, a World War II casualty. The shrine sits on a ridge near the home Lt Sloane planned.
