The Mt Anthony Union High School board ratified four policies on controversial issues non-resident students purchase orders and related matters, after recommendations from Principal Charles W Keir and Asst Supt George A Sleeman. The policy defines controversy as topics arousing strong reactions and notes controversy has a legitimate place in public schools while avoiding indoctrination. Suit Started To Block Underground Atomic Test
Four Colorado residents near the planned underground blast known as Project Rulison sue in federal court to halt the test set for Sept 4. Tavern Owner Dies In Hoosick Falls Fire
Hoosick Falls N Y three alarm blaze at 37 Mechanic St destroyed upstairs rooms and claimed the life of Joseph T Ruditis 62 owner. He ran a downstairs restaurant and tavern for 25 years and died about an hour after the 814 am blaze began. Fire officials suspect smoke inhalation amid limited burns. The Rev Donald J Ammering administered last rites. Coroner Anthony E Matera authorized removal to Mahar Funeral Home. Ruditis survived by his wife two brothers William J and Edward and sister Mrs Anna Testloff.
