A Chat With Rep Jeffords On Energy and Bottle Bills

Vermont’s Rep James M Jeffords discussed national issues during a vacation period for Congress. He supported the bottle bill but noted obstacles in advancing it with the energy bill. He warned energy costs affect Vermont less than the nation and urged conservation and efficiency while questioning gas rationing. He also commented on rail funding, Panama Canal, Bert Lance, and China policy. He avoided predicting his 1980 political plans.
