Bennington Day Care Faces Slashed Funds and Cuts
Bennington Day Care, funded mainly by federal subsidies, may lose most of its $37000 yearly support under new guidelines. The center employs 12 and serves mostly working families. if rules tighten, only about 13 of 35 to 46 current beneficiaries would qualify for free care, risking layoffs, closures, and mothers reverting to welfare. The center seeks alternate fundraising and town revenue sharing to cover the gap.

Gaudet Surrenders After Hiding in Sangre de Cristo Mountains
Gaudet ends a two day manhunt in northern New Mexico after fleeing a commune with his wife Judy and a cousin. He gave himself up near the commune where agents had tried to arrest him. The Secret Service found no link between Gaudet and a suspected conspiracy threatening President Nixon. The complaint cited Gaudet saying someone should kill the president if no one will.

Indicted Agents Accused in Faulty Drug Raids
A federal grand jury indicted eight federal and four local narcotics agents on 17 counts for rights violations in six home invasions in Collinsville East St Louis and Edwardsville. The raids occurred over five days last April without probable cause or warrants. Two occupants were assaulted while handcuffed and a third man jailed three days without charges. Some agents allegedly tried to downplay reports to investigators and three were charged with lying to the grand jury. DALE BNDD and Treasury agents staffed the case.
