Vermont plans land data bank to aid property appraisals
Vermont Tax Commissioner Gerald Witherspoon said the land data bank project remains in preliminary stages. The system would catalog roughly 300,000 parcels from 246 towns, feeding listings into data processing machines to instantly determine property values across the state. Local listers would submit town property data while federal help could lower the initial $25,000 cost.
