Streambank erosion drives major flood damage in Vermont farms
UVM County Extension Agent John C. Page surveys summer floods in Bennington County. The Hoosic and Mettowee rivers caused severe streambank cutting, exposing agricultural land to erosion and silt deposition. Crops varied in impact, with corn largely upright but fields and gardens sustaining damage. Farmers hope restoration addresses high water time risks and long-term recovery costs.

New safety greenhouse for home use unveiled in Snow Shoe
Edward Owen Engineering announces a home greenhouse with all safety glass panes and a commercial Strength ridge to resist snow load and basket weight. The design, based on a 15 month U S study, uses safety glass standard across all hobby greenhouses and an aluminum frame for durability and low maintenance.
