Deane C Davis outlines Vermont reforms at Old Home Day
Deane C Davis, seeking the Republican nomination for governor, told Old Home Day visitors that state responsibility is needed to help towns fund local schools and that 75 percent of local tax money goes to education. He urged regionalization for better facilities at lower cost, criticized the property tax as regressive, discussed poverty and under employment, and stressed the use of federal funds, preservation of Vermont’s environment, and growth with its unique atmosphere. Local legislators and past lawmakers attended.
